Flav Athlet has been one of the busiest artists in the Haitian Music Industry (HMI) for past few years. The Gabel’s lead singer has shown recently that he’s more than just a singer and now on the quest to be a mogul in the HMI, by adding more titles to his resume. He has taken note of the happenings in the larger world of entertainment. Lately, he has been using his stardom and taking advantage of his platforms to touch more people in the world. His leading role in the recently released film, Married Men, is one of many milestones Flav has reached. He recently unveiled his new brand, KONVICTION. HMI Buzz reached out to Flav for a Q&A session about his new brand.
HMI Buzz: Where the inspiration came from to come up with this new business venture?
Flav: Ever since I was in college I always wanted to start my own business, but I also knew that it will take times and I didn’t just want to start any type of business. So with the help of my wife who always pushes me and motivates me, we decided to make it happen.
HMI Buzz: What is it about watches that motivates you?
Flav: I have been always a watch guy. My goal when I was younger was to have 365 watches and to wear one every day of the year, but somewhere along the line, I lost interest.
HMI Buzz: Who else was/were very instrumental in creating this merchandise?
Flav: I have a great team around me. My wife is beyond amazing and supportive as well as my business partner. I also have my stylist Alexandra as part of the team and Evens from Shakaitutu along with Sahenz. So it’s a well-built team.
HMI Buzz: What other Merch can your fans look forward to in the future?
Flav: I have so many different products lining up, but again it took me 3 years to launch the watch line just to show you that I’m in no rush to just bring anything out. I want to make sure it’s a great product and for the consumer to really enjoy it.
HMI Buzz: You are one of the very few Compas artists who are not afraid to take risks, what gives you such confidence?
Flav: I believe it’s my surroundings and my upbringings. Even with Gabel in our music videos, I like to step outside the comfort zone and take big risks. I like to push the envelopes.
HMI Buzz: You have worked with so many different people and have been featured in so many different products, will the fans get a solo album from Flav?
Flav: Nothing plan as of now for a solo album.
HMI Buzz: Who is your biggest inspiration?
Flav: I have many inspirations but my family is the biggest.

HMI Buzz: Who’s your idol?
Flav: Musically Jude Jean is my idol and business wise I study all the greats like Bill Gates, Oprah, Warren Buffet, Diddy and many others.
HMI Buzz: It can be argued that you don’t get enough props and credit for your outstanding track record and your consistency in delivering hit records, do you feel like you still have to prove yourself?
Flav: As long as I’m doing music I will always be working hard to please the fans. I tend to block out all the noise and just focus on my work.
HMI Buzz: You are a very busy artist how do you balance your professional career and personal life?
Flav: It’s hard to balance, but sometimes you have to go the extra mile to make certain things work. I believe in hard work and that everything is possible.

HMI Buzz: It’s well documented you’re the leading actor of the recently released film Married Men, how was that experience shooting this film? What was the most memorable moment filming this movie?
Flav: That movie was beyond amazing to shoot because we have a huge cast and people from different musical genres. It was very dope shooting with Fantom and Richie, Jude Jean, Princess Eud just to name a few. I can’t wait for the fans to see it.
HMI Buzz: Singer, actor, and now a businessman, is there another talent that you are very good at that most people don’t know about?
Flav: I think the fans know a lot about me because my life is well documented over the social media but I tend to keep something personal lol.
HMI Buzz: 2017 was a great year for you in terms of many different projects you participated in and released, how is 2018 looking?
Flav: 2018 will be more hard work because 2017 was just planting my seeds and now I have to keep it going non stop with the band..business and most importantly my family.
